An Important Part of Parenting
It is important for parents to set aside time to listen to their children every day. Some children talk easily while others are quieter, keeping many of their thoughts to themselves. If a parent can find a way to have a respectful ear it doesn’t matter if their child says three words or a hundred. If a child shares anything about their interests, frustrations or dreams they are more likely to feel loved and secure in their home and more able to come to their parents for support, understanding and advice when and if larger problems arise.

A very important part of parenting is to actively find the time to spend with your child.I realize as a single mom with a busy work load ,I have to creatively find time and ways to connect with my 3yr old.And it doesn’t have to be an expensive outing. He is happy as long as I read, play board games, helps me cook or just lay in his bed and talk to him before he goes to sleep.
Iam a single mother of a 8yr old girl and 15yr old boy. my daughter is very open and is very talktive once you ask the right questions. my son on the other hand is yes, no and everything is fine. What i find that works with him is telling him about my day at work. Anthing from difficult projects, annoying coworkers, dept director and supervisors. As well as my fears about learning new things. This has open up the line of communications and he sees me more like a person instead of mother who knows all, no worries and fears.
its amazing how the simple things you do with your kids is what they enjoy and recall the most. For them its movie and homemade tacos night to the three of us spending time togehter doing whatever away from home( the extended family).
