Bio
Sharon C.Peters, director of Parents Helping Parents, has a BA in Education from Suny Albany and an MA in Educational Psychology from Columbia University.
Before founding Parents Helping Parents in 1995, Sharon was a consultant for The Academy for Educational Development, a teacher and counselor at several CUNY colleges and a reading specialist for children and adults.
She has worked with hundreds of individual families and led many workshops for parents in schools and community organizations.
As a step, birth, adoptive, married and single mother, Sharon has raised five children, several coping with special needs.
Sharon writes a monthly column for Brooklyn, Queens and Bronx Family Magazine and is in the process of writing a book entitled, “Parenting Ideas When You Need Them, A Weekly Guide.”
