My Son’s Favorite Childhood Memory

I once asked one of my adult son’s to tell me his favorite memory from childhood.

After thinking for a few minutes he said, “The time we were on a lake in Vermont. I was rowing and you were sitting in the boat.”

I had many ideas of what he might say but had to jog my memory to recall that we had ever been to Vermont or had gone rowing on a lake.

I’m guessing that I was pleased and relaxed with him as we took our boat trip even though I doubt that we were going anywhere in particular or moving in an efficient way.

As we head into this busy time of year when many of us try hard to please our children, I thought it would be useful for us all to remember that time alone at peace with your child is worth it’s weight in gold.

Happy Holidays!
